On April 22 of last year, I took part in something that, in and of itself, was not all that spectacular. It was a spring football scrimmage.
What was spectacular, however, were the 71,000+ fans that took part in the annual tradition. I took my kids, along with their grandfather, who took me when I was growing up. What really hit home for my son was the knowledge that the stadium holds nearly 40,000 more people than the Link (where the Eagles play). His jaw dropped. Priceless.
That was one of many joys that day.
This trip was long overdue. With everyone’s busy schedule, I was grateful to share this experience with my father and my kids. (Happy to say now two years in a row!) It gave my kids a taste of what I experienced years ago with my own Dad. I truly believe that it’s not the amount of time you spend with those you love, it’s the quality of the time you have together.
Do I wish I could have spent more time with my family? Sure. But, going forward in my life, I can only focus on there here and now… and make every moment count.
